Syria mourns passing of former VP Masharqa DAMASCUS, April 25 (KUNA) -- Syrian Presidency and Baath Party Leadership mourned Wednesday the passing of the country's former Vice President Mohammed Zuhair Masharqa, 69, who died of a heart attack late Tuesday.
Syrian News Agency (SANA) said the funeral procession would take place on Thursday from Damascus to Halab, his home town, where he would be laid to rest.
Masharqa held a number of senior government posts and he was appointed vice president in 1984. He was relieved of his duties two years ago.(end) tk.mar KUNA 251329 Apr 07NNNN
