Iraqi rivals agree to expedite gov't, respond to protesters

BAGHDAD, July 18 (KUNA) -- Iraqi political leaders have decided to form a new government at an early date, and fulfill demonstrators' service and job demands, the Iraqi Presidency said Wednesday.
The agreement came following a meeting of political blocs' leaders in the office of Iraqi President Fuad Masum, according to a presidential statement.
They also agreed to concede the final results of the country's recent parliamentary elections, only if they were approved by the federal court, it added.
Furthermore, they reiterated commitment to observing constitutionals deadlines for the convention of the first parliamentary session in order to ensure the election of a parliament speaker and a president of the republic, it noted.
Meanwhile, the political rivals admitted that the right of peaceful demonstrations for demanding rights and services is enshrined in the constitution, it said. (end) ahh.mt
