OIC condemns Israel's measures against Jerusalem churches

JEDDAH, Feb 27 (KUNA) -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Tuesday condemned the Israeli Municipality's declaration imposing tax on churches and their institutions and real estates in the occupied Al-Quds.
It also reiterated its rejection of the measures which are part of the "Municipality's ongoing attempts to alter the historical status of Christian and Islamic holy places." Meanwhile, the OIC General Secretariat expressed solidarity with the Christian churches in Jerusalem, warning against "the danger of the unprecedented Israeli actions, which constitute a flagrant violation of the international law and conventions," the 57-member bloc said in a statement.
It also called on the international community to pressure Israel, the occupying power, and compel it to "assume its responsibilities under international law and the Geneva Conventions, and immediately reverse these illegal actions and ongoing violations" against the Holy City, and its people.
