KUWAIT, Feb 20 (KUNA) -- A robotics conference organized by Kuwait's Ministry of Education and geared towards students, came to an end Tuesday amid a large turnout from the Gulf and wider Arab region.
The event was a novel initiative that shines light on the growing significance of the science of robotics, the President of the Arab Robotics Association Ismail Yaseen told the press on the sidelines of the conference.
He pointed out that the meeting, which brought together some 250 pupils, also highlights what appears to be a promising future for the job market, given the meteoric growth of the robotics industry.
Meanwhile, Khaled Al-Shakhs, an official in charge of communications and information technology at Oman's ministry of education, said such events allow students the opportunity to hone their scientific skills.
Similarly, Essa Al-Suwaidi, who heads a robotics association in the UAE, noted that Kuwait has always been a pioneer in the field of computer science.
He revealed that robotics, an interdisciplinary branch of engineering and science, has now been interspersed into school curriculums around the world as a number of Arab regions have begun to look into artificial intelligence. (end)
