Sochi talks propose Syrian constitution cmte - envoy

MOSCOW, Jan 30 (KUNA) -- Russia's peace conference on Syria has proposed its own constitutional committee, including Syrian government and opposition figures, which will be handed to the United Nations, the presidential envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentiev said.
The recommendations set forth at the talks, held in the Black Sea resort of Sochi, did not set a timeframe for the committee's role but urged the UN special envoy Staffan di Mistura to hasten its launch.
Meanwhile, Lavrentiev said Russia, Turkey and Iran are expected to discuss the matter further in Astana, Kazakhstan, next month.
Syria's main opposition group refused to attend the peace conference, which was supposed to have hosted them alongside Syrian government officials. (pickup previous) as.sd
