BEIRUT, Jan 29 (KUNA) -- Lebanese and German presidents, Michel Aoun and Frank-Walter Steimeier respectively, called Monday on importance of reaching a political solution for the crisis in Syria.
Aoun, at a joint news conference with Steimeier following their talks in Beirut, called for exploring peaceful solutions to stop violence, wars and terrorism that engulfed many Arab countries.
He also called for a quick action to end suffering of refugees regardless of their nationalities. He said Lebanon was hosting hundreds of thousands of Palestinian and Syrian refugees.
Aoun urged Germany to stand in the face of the Israeli systematic assaults against Lebanon, and UN resolution 1701.
Steimeier said Germany was supporting security stability in Lebanon.
The German president arrived in Beirut earlier today on a three-day visit, as part of a regional tour. (end) wsm.bs
