KUWAIT, Jan 15 (KUNA) -- Assistant Secretary General of the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters (NCCAL) Mohammad Al-Assousi said Monday that historic migrations to Kuwait from neighboring countries had had a positive impact on the Kuwaiti cultural march.
Al-Assousi made his remarks at an opening symposium, entitled "Economies of Arab culture, and Kuwait's role in knowledge enrichment", as part of the ongoing 24th edition of Al-Qurain Cultural Festival.
The symposium discusses strategic planning and public budget, and their effect on connecting with daily requirements and motivating active and intellectual power to contribute in managing the country's affairs, Al-Assousi said.
It also discusses ways to encourage the Kuwaiti private sector to get involved in cultural issues and transform culture into an industry, said Al-Assousi.
Nowadays, culture is more of mental effort, political decision, and studied public budget, which tend to build a society that is able to interact with the development of cultural issues on a top level that surpasses the country's national borders, said the NCCAL official.
Cultural strategic planning must achieves harmony with the international development in the field of supporting culture, he noted, adding that regional and international agencies and organizations have adopted initiatives that aim to enhance and provide cultural aid and consultation to several countries as part of their humanitarian efforts.
Due to active migrations from neighbor countries, Kuwait was able to be open to other different cultures, Al-Assousi mentioned, adding that these various cultures have contributed significantly in shaping the Kuwaiti mentality and making the culture a prominent tool in communicating with other nations inside and outside the country.
Throughout history, Kuwaitis, from various ethnic backgrounds, were able to overcome financial scarcity through their social cooperation and interaction among each other, he noted, adding that such a cultural public harmony contributed in building schools, cultural and literature clubs, health and municipal departments.
