OIC deplores Baghdad blast

JEDDAH, Jan 15 (KUNA) -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Monday condemned the twin explosion that hit Baghdad today and left a number of people killed or wounded, billing it as a "criminal and terrorist act".
OIC Secretary-General Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen, in a press statement, offered condolence to families of the innocent victims of this "terrorist heinous act", and wished the swift recovery of the injured.
He reiterated his organization's readiness to work with the Iraqi government and all political blocs to create Iraqi national reconciliation by holding a conference in this regard.
The OIC chief reaffirmed the Islamic bloc's unwavering stance that decries terrorism in all its manifestations.
At least 26 people were killed and 90 others wounded in a dual blast in central Baghdad early Monday. (end) nh.mt
