Turkey arrests IS 'prosecutor'

ANKARA, Dec 30 (KUNA) -- Police on Saturday arrested the so-called Islamic State's prosecutor in southeastern Sanliurfa city, southeast of Turkey.
During an anti-terror operation in the city, a Syrian national, who is an alleged "prosecutor" of IS in Syria's Raqqah province, was arrested, according to a written statement by the city's police department.
He was later sent to a court in the city and was remanded in custody for "being a member of an armed terrorist organization".
In another security operation, the Turkish authorities have detained two Iraqis in northwestern Bolu province that were charged with links to IS.
Last Tuesday, the Turkish police arrested 714 people accused of connection with IS in Istanbul since the beginning of last September. IS militants have carried out suicide bombings against some Turkish cities, including Ankara and Istanbul, that killed 319 people. (end) rs.hm
