E. Saudi operations lead to solider, gunman deaths, remains discovery

RIYADH, Dec 25 (KUNA) -- Operations in Al-Awamiyah town in the eastern Saudi province of Qatif led to the death of a soldier and a gunman, in addition to the arrest of a wanted individual and the discovery of an abducted individual's remains, said the Interior Ministry Monday.
A spokesman for the Ministry told the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the operations were part of ongoing investigations into last year's abduction of Mohammad Al-Jirani, a local Judge in the region.
The security teams managed to identify some of those involved in the abduction of Al-Jirani, who might be possibly murdered.
Intelligence revealed that one of the suspects was present at his dwelling in Al-Awamiyah town and on December 19. A sting operation was launched to bring the individual to justice, said the spokesman.
It appeared that two suspects were on the premise, with one being arrested and the other terminated, he indicated.
A body was discovered in Al-Salehiya farms area and DNA tests revealed that it belonged to the abducted Judge Al-Jirani, said the source.
Other suspects, involved in the murder of Al-Jirani, are still at large and citizens are urged to provide any valuable information regarding the case, said the Ministry spokesman.
The Saudi authorities released a list of 23 suspects involved in the abduction and murder of Al-Jirani. (end) mdm.gta
