Arab League welcomes majority of votes against Trump's Jerusalem decision

CAIRO, Dec 22 (KUNA) -- Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Abul Gheit welcomed the majority of votes at the UN's General Assembly against the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
The vote represents the international community's support to Palestine's rights in terms of the international law, said Abul Gheit in a press statement late Thursday.
He noted that the League will hold meetings to discuss means of safeguarding the international vote against President Donald Trump's decision.
Earlier this month, Trump announced recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital and relocating the US embassy to it; from Tel Aviv.
The decision; to be executed within the next six months according to the US administration, sparked different international reactions, as well as being rejected by the Islamic World and the UN Security Council. (end) mfm.ag
