JEDDAH, Dec 14 (KUNA) -- Saudi Arabia on Thursday welcomed a UN report stressing that Iran's "hostile" interferences and its support for Houthis' terrorist militias with advanced missile capabilities threaten stability in the entire region.
In a statement by the Saudi Foreign Ministry, the Kingdom also welcomed the position announced by US ambassador to the UN who condemned "Iran's "hostile" activities in backing and arming the terrorist groups, including Lebanon's Hezbollah and Yemen's Houthis.
Saudi Arabia renewed its condemnation of the Iranian regime for backing Houthis in committing "hostile activities", destroying Yemeni state's institutions, suppressing brutally the Yemeni people, controlling oil revenues, attacking the Saudi land, launching ballistic missile and threatening security of marine corridors.
It affirmed that such practices constitute a flagrant violation of the UN Security Council Resolutions 2216 and 2231, and this has impeded the political process in Yemen and prolonged the country's crisis.
Riyadh also condemned Iran for its "flagrant" violation of international resolutions and norms, including UNSC Resolutions 1559, 1701, 2231 and 2216.
It called on the international community to take necessarily and immediately measures to implement the above-mentioned resolutions and hold the Iranian regime accountable for its hostile acts.
Saudi Arabia stressed its commitment to supporting efforts by the UN envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed aiming to find a political solution in accordance with the three authorities, and to backing all relief and humanitarian operations seeking to alleviate suffering of the Yemeni people. (end)
