ABU DHABI, Dec 11 (KUNA) -- Kuwait is participating with 14 crafts at the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival 2017 in Wathba, Abu Dhabi, said Salman Bouland of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) on Monday.
The objective of the participation is to shed light on Kuwaiti heritage and handcrafts, in addition to buttressing cultural ties with the host country and others, said Bouland, museums' supervisor at NACCL in statements to KUNA.
Kuwait is displaying miniature shipbuilding, woodcarving, perfume-making, tailoring and formative arts among others, he pointed out.
"The Festival bears a name so dear to us Gulf and Arab peoples," he noted, adding that 30 countries are taking part in the event with 20 interactive displays, as well as 24 historic pavilions and 500 booths.
This is the 8th edition of the Festival, one of the most celebrated cultural venues in Abu Dhabi.
Held under the patronage of President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the Festival is an annual event established to honor the UAE's founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed, for his pivotal role in preserving the nation's proud history as a gateway to the future.
The festival will run until January 27, 2018 under the theme, 'Where World Cultures Meet'.
The Festival celebrates the UAE's cultural hiratage and the rich diversity of its traditions through live performances, horse shows, date and classic car exhibitions, funfair, cooking classes and traditional crafts from the UAE and around the world. (end) bsu.hb
