OIC condemns mosque attack in Egypt's N. Sinai

JEDDAH, Nov 24 (KUNA) -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned Friday the bomb attack that targeted Al-Rawdah mosque in Egypt's North Sinai, which killed and wounded huundreds of people.
OIC's Secretary-General Dr. Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen expressed, in a statement, his shock over the heinous incident.
Al-Othaimeen described the perpetrators of that "disgraceful terrorist" action against innocent worshipers as enemies of Islam, Egypt, and Egyptians.
He also expressed his confidence in the Egyptian authorities' capabilities in carrying out all possible measures to bring to justice the criminals of that attack.
The OIC chief also reiterated his call for regional and international cooperation against terrorism and violent extremism to guarantee a safer world.
He also affirmed his organization's firm stand against all forms and manifestations of terrorism, reiterating OIC's full solidarity with Egypt in its war on terror.
Al-Othaimeen also offered his sincere condolences to the victims' families, Egyptian government and people, and wished the wounded a speedy recovery.
A bomb attack targeting Al-Rawdah mosque in Bir al-Abed, west of Arish city in North Sinai, killed nearly 155 people and wounded 120 others, Egypt's official news Agency (MENA) reported earlier.
The victims were taken to nearby hospitals, the MENA added. (end) nh.ma
