Suicide blast kills 8 civilians in E. Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, Nov 23 (KUNA) -- At least eight people were killed and over 15 others wounded when a suicide blast rocked Jalalabad city of Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province on Thursday, said officials.
Provincial governor's spokesman Attaullah Khgyani told media that the suicide blast occurred in Campono area in the limits of first municipality district in front of former police commander's house.
He confirmed that eight civilians were killed and 15 others wounded in the suicide assault. The bomber walked next to the supporters of former Afghan Local Police (ALP) commander's supporters who were demonstrating outside his house.
The blast came days after at least 18 fighters belonging to so-called Islamic State (IS) were killed in an air strike and a clash in Achin district of Nangarhar province. (end) sbk.mt
