Booby-trapped car blast kills 26 people in Syria's Deir Az-Zour - SOHR

AMMAN, Nov 17 (KUNA) -- At least 26 people, including some women and children, were killed in an explosion caused by a booby-trapped car that targeted a gathering of displaced Syrians in Deir Az-Zour, east of Syria, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) on Friday.
A violent blast jolted an area close to Jafra oil field controlled by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the observatory added in a statement.
The booby-trapped car used by the so-called Islamic State exploded at the gathering of displaced Syrians, killing and wounding several people displaced from villages on the eastern banks of the Euphrates River, it noted.
Among the killed are 12 children and seven women, and several others wounded in the blast, it said.
The observatory revealed that the death toll is expected to rise as some of the wounded are in a critical condition and some others are missing.
The explosion also led to the killing of a fighter from SDF and the injury of another, the observatory pointed out. (pickup previous) tk.hm
