Four senior IS leaders killed in Iraq, Syria in last 3 weeks - coalition

WASHINGTON, Nov 14 (KUNA) -- Coalition airstrikes killed four senior leaders of the so-called Islamic State (IS) in Iraq and Syria in the past three weeks, the Combined Joint Task Force announced Tuesday.
"The removal of these key terrorists disrupts ISIS' weapons engineering activities and their ability to recruit and train terrorists," the statement said, referring to IS. "It also reduces their ability to plan and conduct terrorist attacks both within Syria and Iraq, and abroad." Yusuf Demir, an IS media official with links to IS networks throughout the Middle East and Europe, was killed October 26 near al-Qaim, Iraq, as was Omer Demir, an IS external operations coordinator with links to IS networks in the Middle East and Europe, the statement said.
Abu Yazin, an IS senior leader and weapons facilitator, was killed November 3 near Mayadin, Syria, it said.
Abdellah Hajjiaou, an IS external operations plotter, was killed November 5 near Abu Kamal, Syria, it added.
The coalition will continue to exert pressure on IS senior leaders and associates "across multiple networks in order to degrade, disrupt and dismantle" IS structures "and remove the extremist terrorists throughout Iraq and Syria," the statement said. (end) rm.hb
