Kuwait hosts int'l conf. on Palestinian child suffering in Nov. - official

KUWAIT, Oct 22 (KUNA) -- Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Saad Al-Kharraz on Sunday underlined the importance of the international conference on the suffering of the Palestinian child that will be hosted by Kuwait next month.
He said the two-day conference, in light of the Israeli violations, would seek to set appropriate mechanisms for applying international conventions and programs tasked with protecting Palestinian children and providing them with education and culture.
Al-Kharraz made the statement during a news conference to give details about the scheduled congress on November 12-13 that will feature Secretary General of the Arab League, Arab Ministers of Social Affairs and a group of representatives of governmental bodies tasked with childhood.
He said the conference, which comes in implementation of the decision of the 24th Arab Summit in Doha 2013, would contribute to establishing a joint action and ensuring the fulfillment of child rights conventions as well as developing mechanisms of legal accountability for the Israeli occupation.
The congress aims to shed light on Weaknesses and obstacles impeding the creation of better reality of Palestinian children, he said.
It will discuss the deterioration of educational, health and psychological situations of children, mainly those detained in the Israeli prisons, he noted.
Al-Kharraz pointed out that the event will also focus on legal protection of the Palestinian children and work to set necessary mechanisms as well as develop capacity of this category and help them to be qualified educationally, psychologically and culturally.
Kuwait's hosting of the conference is based on its political leadership's keenness to support the Palestinian cause, and its commitment to the resolutions calling on Israel to stop its aggressive policies as well as the need to put an end to Israel's grave violations to international laws and resolutions, he affirmed.
He indicated that Kuwait hopes that the conference would lead to actual results that could be reflected on the reality of the Palestinian child to reduce his suffering and ensure his right to life in accordance with the provisions of the international conventions. (end) mth.msa.hm
