Suicide attack kills 15 cadets in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, Oct 21 (KUNA) -- A suicide bomber on Saturday attacked a minibus boarding military cadets in the Afghan capital killing at least 15 trainees.
The minibus was moving out of Marshal Fahim Military Academy, West Kabul, when the suicide bomber on foot targeted it, killing 15 and wounding four cadets, said Afghan Defense Ministry spokesman Dawlat Waziri in a statement.
Kabul Crime Branch chief, General Mohammad Salim Almas, confirming the toll, said police launched an investigation into the attack on the minibus that was carrying the trainees to their houses.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack, but Taliban rebels have carried out multiple suicide attacks targeting Afghan security forces this week killing over 130 people, mostly security personnel, and wounding 300 others across Afghanistan.
The attack came less than 24 hours after two separate suicide attacks, claimed by so-called Islamic State (IS) targeting mosques in Afghanistan's capital city Kabul and Ghor province, killed at least 72 people and wounded 65 others.
The suicide attack was the seventh major assault carried out in war-torn Afghanistan since Tuesday. (end) sbk.rk
