Japan unveils 10 bLn plan for Asian LNG infrastructure

TOKYO, Oct 18 (KUNA) -- The Japanese government unveiled on Wednesday a USD 10 billion public-private initiative aimed at increasing liquefied natural gas (LNG) demand in Asia by helping infrastructure projects.
Japanese Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Hiroshige Seko made the announcement at an annual international conference of LNG producing and consuming countries in Tokyo.
At the annual LNG Producer-Consumer Conference, Seko also said that, over the next five years, Japan will offer training about 500 engineers and other personnel for Asia's LNG industry.
Japan, the world's largest LNG importer by volume, hopes to become a key player in the market for international trades of the gas. (end) mk.mb
