DOHA, Oct 15 (KUNA) -- UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres called on Sunday for preparing plans and strategies to address food shortage and climate change around the globe.
Guterres, in a message to the Global Dryland Alliance (GDA) founding conference, said there were millions of people living in dry lands who were at risk because of food shortage and climate change.
He praised the establishment of GDA, and wishing it success.
Bader Al-Daf', GDA member countries sought to use technological innovation to boost food security.
He said food security was humans' biggest challenge specially that the world's population was increasing by around 200,000 people every day.
Al-Daf' thanked the Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim Al-Thani for calling for the establishment of GDA, as well as for financial support.
