Kuwait's EPA assess damage caused by sunken Iranian ship

(With SEC-KUWAIT-SHIP) KUWAIT, Oct 9 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Environment Public Authority (EPA) said Monday a team was checking location of the sunken Iranian cargo ship in order to assess possible environmental damage.
EPA said in a statement it was cooperating with authorities concerned to investigate factors that forced the ship to sink.
It added that a team of Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) rushed to the scene to check whether there was a leak or not.
The Iranian ship sank near the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad causeway, a cable-stayed bridge pending construction, earlier today.
The Doha port-bound cargo ship coming from Iran was completely submerged but all six Iranian sailors on board the vessel emerged unscathed.
The sailors were saved and handed over to the Kuwaiti coastguard. (end) zak.bs
