KUWAIT, Sept 22 (KUNA) -- The Second Vice President of Zanzibar Seif Ali Iddi has valued Kuwait's continuous efforts, via Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), in reconstructing and enhancing several vital sectors in the Zanzibar Archipelago.
Iddi made his remarks after meeting with the charge d'affaires for the Kuwaiti embassy in Tanzania Mohammad Al-Amiri in Dar es Salaam Friday, Kuwaiti embassy said in a statement.
Zanzibar is currently facing water scarcity, Iddi said, welcoming all supports and aid by Kuwaiti state bodies and philanthropic societies to help his government overcome such a crisis and provide fresh drinking water for the residents.
For his part, Al-Amiri said that his meeting with Iddi addressed ways to boost bilateral ties between Kuwait and the Zanzibar Archipelago.
On Thursday, KFAED signed a loan agreement worth KD four million (USD 13.6 million) with Tanzania.
The loan aims to contribute in rehabilitating and expanding Mnazi Mmoja Hospital in Zanzibar Town.
The project seeks to boost social and economic development in the Zanzibar Archipelago by improving the level of health care system to the public. (end) ma
