US Pres. announces new sanctions on N. Korea

NEW YORK, Sept 21 (KUNA) -- US President Donald Trump said Thursday there would be new sanctions on North Korea in retaliation of Pyongyang's development of its nuclear missile program.
"Yes, we will be putting more sanctions on North Korea," Trump told reporters when asked if there would be new sanctions on Pyongyang, but did not elaborate on nature of the sanctions. He made the remarks before his meeting with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in New York.
The international community has been expressed a growing concern over North Korea's recent nuclear missile test, and the UN Security Council imposed fresh sanctions against Pyongyang last week.
Trump, during his speech before the UN General Assembly two days ago, warned that the US would have no choice but to "totally destroy North Korea," because of its nuclear missile tests. He, however, said diplomacy might still be an option.
"We will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea... the US is willing and able but hopefully this will not be necessary," Trump said.
"North Korea reckless use of nuclear missile threaten" the entire region and people, he said of Pyongyang's testing of nuclear and Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). (end) bs.asf
