MOSCOW, Sept 21 (KUNA) -- Russia on Thursday warned the United States that its forces would destroy all sources of fire targeting Syrian forces east of the Euphrates River.
US and Syrian forces have completely stopped their attack on the city of Raqqa and left it under the control of terrorist groups following the progress made by the Syrian forces in Deir al-Zour and eastern Euphrates, Russian defense ministry spokesman Igor Konashinkov said in a statement.
Konashinkov stressed that Syria's democratic forces withdrew from Raqqa and joined terrorists fighting against Syrian forces in the north of Deir al-Zour.
He pointed out that Syria's democratic forces have twice heavily bombed the positions of the Syrian forces advancing in Deir al-Zour as there are special Russian forces operating in the region alongside Russian forces.
The Syrian forces were in control of 85 percent of the city of Deir al-Zour and that the process of full liberation will take place within a week, he said. (end)
