VIENNA, Sept 20 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Ambassador to Austria and its Permanent Delegate to the International Organizations in Vienna Sadiq Marafi on Wednesday reaffirmed the country's commitment to implementing the UNSC resolutions imposing sanctions on North Korea.
Marafi made a statement to KUNA in Vienna as he left for New York to attend the 10th Conference on Facilitating the Entry into Force of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT), more commonly known as the "Article XIV Conference." The State of Kuwait has already taken several measures in line with that commitment, he said.
He also reaffirmed Kuwait's condemnation of any nuclear tests that cause harm to the international security and peace.
Based on this, Kuwait has condemned all the nuclear tests that North Korea announced, and urges Pyongyang to commit itself to the relevant international conventions and the UNSC resolutions, he added. He also urged the DPRK to be open to dialogue with the international community.
In line with the UN responsibilities, the organization has professionally handled North Korea's recent tests, he said.
Marafi added that Kuwait is taking part in the event as a deputy president of the conference held in New York every two years. (end) amg.mmj.msa
