1958 -- Egyptian President Jamal Abdul Nasser inaugurated the Kuwait House building in Al-Duqi for Kuwaiti students in Cairo, in the presence of Sheikh Abdullah Jaber Al-Sabah and Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
1990 -- Kuwait's Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah urged the US and the Soviet Union to live up to their humanitarian and ethical responsibilities towards maintaining international peace and security, and called for decisive action to end the Iraqi occupation of the State of Kuwait. The Amir's call came in a message he sent to Presidents George H.W. Bush and Mikhail Gorbachev during their summit talks in Helsinki.
1996 -- Record 265 million share volume and 48.4 million Kuwaiti dinar value at Kuwait Stock Exchange.
1997 -- Establishment of the First Investment Company with a KD 17 million capital distributed into 170 million shares each with a nominal value of 100 fils.
1999 -- Establishment of Osoul Leasing Finance.
1999 -- The Ministry of Information approved the printing and circulation in Kuwait of an Arabic edition of Newsweek magazine as well as the London based Arabic language Al-Hayat newspaper.
2000 -- The State of Kuwait ratified the bylaws of the International Criminal Tribunal set up to prosecute war criminals.
2000 -- Kuwait's youth handball team won Asian championship after beating Qatar 25 22 during a match in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad.
2010 -- Former MP and health minister Abdulaziz Ibrahim Al Fleij passed away at the age of 83.
2010 -- Amiri decree was issued to form the Capital Market Authority.
2010 -- Kuwait and Japan signed a bilateral agreement on peaceful use of nuclear energy in Tokyo.
2010 -- Kuwait and a Canadian hospital network signed agreement to develop services for cancer patients.
2013 -- Iraqi and Kuwaiti parliaments agreed on coordinating marine navigation at the estuary of Khawr Abdullah.
2016 -- Kuwait Bahrain signed memo to bolster cultural cooperation.
2016 -- Kuwaiti poet and writer Dr. Khalifa Al-Waqayan won the Jerusalem prize awarded by the Arab writers federation during an event in Dubai. (end) gta
