French Prosecutor says some Spain terrorists passed through France

PARIS, Aug 23 (KUNA) -- France chief prosecutor Francois Molins on Wednesday declared in a press statement that some of the people involved in the terrorist operations in Spain last Thursday had passed through France and were detected near Paris only days before the attacks.
Molins said that an Audi 3 vehicle now identified as used by the terrorist in the Cambrils operation, south of Barcelona, had transited through Paris on August 11-12 and this has been confirmed.
The car set off a radar flash in the Paris region and it was later discovered in Spain, Molins indicated.
He said French investigators were seeking to determine the purpose of the terrorists' passage through France and also establish if they had contacts with any networks or suspect individuals here.
One person was killed and several were injured in a car ramming attack in Cambrils just after a major van attack on pedestrians killed 14 and wounded well over one hundred, many of them tourists from 34 countries.
In Cambrils, police shot dead five terrorists who were preparing attacks and the van driver from Barcelona was also tracked and shot dead two days ago.
A search is still ongoing in Spain and France to track any other members of what appears to have been a network of more than a dozen people, most of them of Moroccan origin.
Separately, French and Spanish Interior Ministers met here Wednesday and signed new accords on cooperation in the war against terrorism. (end) jk.ibi
