Some 55 PKK fighters killed in southeastern Turkey

ANKARA, July 28 (KUNA) -- Some 55 PKK militants have been killed in counterterrorism operations in southeastern Turkey over the last week, Turkey's Army General Staff said on Friday.
The operations were conducted in the southeastern provinces of Sirnak, Hakkari, Mardin, Diyarbakir, Bitlis and Agri between July 20 and 27, a statement relayed by the Anadolu agency added.
During the raids, the Turkish forces found amounts of weaponry, ammunition and explosives. Eighteen shelters used by PKK "terrorists" were destroyed.
Separately, in Turkey's eastern Van province, a vehicle loaded with explosives was destroyed.
In July 2015, the PKK resumed fighting against the Turkish forces, after a halt for three years and a half. Since then up to 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians, as well as more than 10,000 militant in Turkey and Northern Iraq. (end) rs.msa
