Hamas rejects European court's terror list

GAZA, July 26 (KUNA) -- Palestinian Hamas movement expressed on Wednesday its complete rejection of a European Court ruling continuing to list the movement on the terror list, stressing its continuous policy of defending the Palestinian people's rights.
In a press statement, the movement said under all circumstances and despite all legal rulings and political motives, the movement will continue to defend the Palestinian people's right and to commit itself to ethics, values of Islam and humanity.
The statement also noted that Hamas is well aware of political and media support to the Zionist entity from European institutions, but it also understands the amount of ever growing popular backing to the Palestinian case, which certainly enrages the Zionists and their backers.
Earlier, the European Union's highest court maintained its position that Hamas is a terrorist organization after defying calls for the Palestinian Islamist group to be removed from Europe's blacklist.
The European Court of Justice ruling, which was made on Wednesday after an appeal by the EU, overturns a 2014 recommendation from a lower European Court that said Hamas should be removed from the blacklist and sanctions upon the group lifted. (end) wab.mb
