Netanyahu orders manual inspections of worshipers entering Al-Quds

RAMALLAH, July 26 (KUNA) -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan agreed Wednesday to impose measures to allow police to inspect every person manually entering Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The decision was reached following a Monday night cabinet decision to remove the metal detectors from the same area, Israeli media said Muslim worshipers have not yet agreed to enter the site despite removal of metal detectors.
The preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque called on the faithful citizens of the city to stay outside until the removal of the newly installed security cameras.
Hundreds of worshipers gathered Tuesday evening for a prayer rally outside gates in the Old City of Jerusalem.
Similar rallies took place in recent days, following the closure of the Al-Aqsa compound after the shooting attack that killed two Israeli police officers there earlier this month. (end) nq.nhq
