UNCITRAL concludes meeting in Vienna with Kuwaiti participation

VIENNA, July 22 (KUNA) -- The United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) concluded its 50th session late Friday here with the participation of 60 countries, including Kuwait, represented by Fatwa and Legislation Administration.
Kuwait's participation in the three-week meeting comes in support of the vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Fatwa and Legislation Administration Undersecretary Huda Al-Shayji told KUNA on Saturday.
During the meeting, Kuwait reflected its modern legislations that cope with latest international law concepts, and encouraged foreign investments as it offers a set of guarantees and rights, including free movement of capitals.
Kuwait is a member in the committee since 2013, as it was elected for six years, until 2019.
UNCITRAL Vienna meeting that kicked off on July 2, is considered a prominent rally in the domain of reforming commercial law.
UNCITRAL celebrated its 50th anniversary in this session. It includes the membership of three Arab nations; Kuwait, Algeria, and Jordan.
It is considered the main UN legal body in the international commercial field, as it works in coping trade rules with the modern standards. (end) amg.lb
