RAMALLAH, July 21 (KUNA) -- At least three young Palestinians were "martyred" and 391 others, including three journalists, wounded in clashes with the Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank and Jerusalem on Friday.
Palestinians staged marches and demonstrations in the West Bank and several cities across Palestine in protest of Israel's closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque and recent security measures imposed at its gates.
The martyrs are Mohammad Mahmoud Sharaf, 17, and Mohammad Abu Ghannam, 20, from Jerusalem as well as Mohammad Mahmoud Lafi, 17, from eastern Jerusalem.
In a statement, Palestine Red Crescent said 109 Palestinians were injured in Jerusalem, 38 of them were taken to field clinics and hospitals in the city.
They were attacked by live and rubber bullets, it added.
The Israeli forces broke into Al-Makassed Hospital in Jerusalem, and fired tear gas and sound bombs inside the facility, it said, noting that they attacked the medical staff.
Clashes erupted in Jerusalem after the Israeli forces had fired tear gas and sound bombs at Muslim worshipers who were performing Friday prayers at streets as they rejected Israel's recent security measures at Al-Aqsa gates.
In the West Bank, Israelis attacked worshipers using live and rubber bullets as well as tear gas and sound bombs.
Israel detained some Palestinians, mainly Fatah movement members, in Jerusalem.
The Israeli forces have shut down the Old City in Jerusalem last Friday after the killing of three Palestinians and two Israelis in clashes. (end) nq.hm
