BERLIN, July 14 (KUNA) -- Germany's Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel on Friday reiterated Berlin's confidence in mediation efforts pursued by Kuwait aimed at resolving the Gulf crisis between several Arab countries and Qatar.
Kuwait's efforts have Berlin's full backing, he said, and German officials are coordinating their position on the matter with their partners in Kuwait, the US and Europe, read a ministry statement.
Gabriel conveyed Germany's readiness to offer all forms of support towards these efforts, and expressed the view that the time has come for the countries involved in the dispute to sit down at one negotiating table.
He also praised the efforts of US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who recently met top Arab officials, during a Gulf tour that included stops in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, in a bid to defuse tensions.
During separate encounters, Berlin recently hosted the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Qatar in talks with German officials. (end) anj.sd
