Spain evacuates 2,000 people due to raging fires

MADRID, June 25 (KUNA) -- Spanish authorities have evacuated more than 2,000 people from wooded regions in the southwest of the nation due to raging fires.
State-run television reported on Sunday that the blazes started, late on Saturday, in Moguer town and rapidly spread due to high speed winds exceeding 60 km/h. The fire reached Donana National Park in Moguer.
Authorities have evacuated residents and hotels' occupants, threatened with the fast spreading fires.
More than 155 fire fighters and civil defense teams, equipped with 19 helicopters, are struggling to douse the blazes.
Such fires often erupt in Spain during summer. (end) hnd.rk
