Chinese foreign minister arrives in Pakistan on two-day visit

ISLAMABAD, June 24 (KUNA) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi along with a delegation arrived in federal capital Islamabad on a two-day official visit to Pakistan on Saturday.
Upon his arrival at the Noor Khan airbase, the Chinese foreign minister was warmly received by the Chief Minister of eastern Punjab province Shahbaz Sharif, Chinese ambassador to Pakistan and other high officials.
Chinese delegation will discuss various aspects for strengthening bilateral economic and strategic ties.
Moreover, Pakistan and China held delegation-level talks in Islamabad where the Pakistani side was led by Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz while visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi led his country's delegation.
Entire gamut of bilateral relations and regional situation were discussed during the meeting, said Pakistan Foreign Office.
Prior to his Pakistanآ’s visit, the Chinese foreign minister had a short surprise visit to Afghan capital city Kabul where he met his Afghan Counterpart Salahuddin Rabbani on Saturday.
A statement read by Afghan Foreign Ministry said, "Chinaآ’s foreign minister said in his meeting with Rabbani he is in Kabul to follow up on the agreements made in Astana between Afghanistan and China on the joint-anti terrorism and extremism fight, Chinaآ’s support to the Afghan peace process, on regional cooperation and on expanding bilateral cooperation between the two countries." The Chinese foreign minister visit to the neighboring countries took place after Pakistan military on Friday accused that the recent militant attacks in Pakistanآ’s southwestern Quetta city and northern tribal Kurram Agency were linked to sanctuaries across the Pak-Afghan border.
