Arab League strongly condemns Makkah Grand Mosque failed plot

CAIRO, June 24 (KUNA) -- The Arab League on Saturday strongly condemned an attempt to attack the Grand Mosque in the holy city of Makkah and expressed its total solidarity with Saudi Arabia on confronting criminal acts.
Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abulgheit said the conspirators did not respect the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan or the tolerant teachings of the Muslim faith.
These acts urge immediate joint action from Arab and Islamic countries and the international community that puts a stop to these plots and those who fund them, he added.
Last night's planned attack involved six people, one of whom blew himself up after being surrounded by Saudi security forces.
The blast caused damage to a building he had been hiding in which led to the injury of another six people and five security personnel, according to reports. (end) mfm.sd
