Twin explosions kill 25 in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, June 23 (KUNA) -- At least 25 people were killed and over 100 others sustained injuries in twin blasts in the heart of Parachinar city of Pakistan's northern tribal Kurram Agency on Friday.
According to Political Agent of Kurram Agency, at least 25 people are feared dead and over 100 others were reportedly injured after two subsequent explosions hit a densely populated area of Parachinar.
The first explosion occurred in Turi Market near a bus terminal while second blast reportedly took place as rescuers and bystanders rushed to aid those who had been hurt in the first blast. Rescue operations are currently underway in the city and an emergency has been imposed in all hospitals of the area. The nature of the explosions was not immediately clear.
Security forces have cordoned off the affected site and are conducting a search operation. According to Pakistan military's Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), "Two Army aviation helicopters have taken off from Peshawar to Parachinar for the speedy evacuation of the injured to Peshawar." Earlier in the day, at least 13 people including five policemen were killed and around 19 others received injuries in a suicide blast that struck Quetta city of Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province.
