Iraq eyes economic stability in post-IS era - PM

TEHRAN, June 20 (KUNA) - Iraq is hard at work to achieve economic stability after defeating the so-called Islamic State (IS), visiting Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi said in Tehran on Tuesday.
Speaking at a joint news conference with Iranian First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri, Al-Abadi said the Iraqi forces are liberating "the land and people" and are in the final stage of eliminating the IS militarily from Iraq.
Meanwhile the Premier reiterated condemnation of the attack that hit Tehran earlier this month, saying it is an evidence that "terrorism doesn't target a certain country". He also underlined Iraq's keenness on restoring navigation in Shatt al-Arab, and removing all remnants of the destructive war erupted during the former regime of Saddam.
Meanwhile, Jahangiri said the Iraqi-Iranian relations have been developing and growing, calling for further and stronger relations.
The two sides discussed some economic issues like the development of gas exports.
Al-Abadi, accompanied by a high-profile delegation arrived in Tehran coming from Riyadh for talks with Iranian officials on means of fostering bilateral ties and key international issues of common concern. (end) fz.tma.hm
