Turkish opposition party carries on anti-government protest

ISTANBUL, June 18 (KUNA) -- Turkey's main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) on Sunday continued a protest for the fourth day, demanding the government to set free its MP Enis Berberoglu, who was convicted of revealing state secrets.
Talking to the press at a park of the Anakar-Istanbul road, CHP leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu urged the Turkish people to take part in the protest march named "voice of justice." Kilicdaroglu launched the long protest march from Ankara to Istanbul on Thursday, a day after Berberoglu was sentenced to 25 years in jail for allegedly disclosing confidential information involving National Intelligence Organization (MIT) trucks going to Syria in January 2014. On Saturday, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized the move saying that marching with banners reading 'justice' would not bring justice.
If the judiciary is under such pressure, how can one expect justice? If you are seeking justice, then the parliament is the place, he said. (end) ta.msa
