IRBIL, June 17 (KUNA) -- The Iraqi forces recaptured the medical complex in the right side of the city of Mosul, part of ongoing military operations to liberate Nineveh from so-called Islamic State (IS), a police commander said Saturday.
General Raed Jawdat, commander of Federal Police, said police forces penetrated deep inside north of Shefaa neighborhood and recaptured the medical complex.
He said the forces killed 19 IS militants, destroyed six boody-trapped vehicles and four motor bikes ready for detonation.
Jawdat said snipers were positioned on roof tops to provide back-up for special units clearing the areas.
The Iraqi forces have regained control of almost the entire Mosul, and IS were only controlling two neighborhoods since the liberation operations began in October 2016. (end) sbr.bs
