GENEVA, June 13 (KUNA) -- The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) on Tuesday offered Salah Al-Najem, a Kuwaiti professor at Kuwait University, its e- learning award. Speaking to KUNA after receiving the award, Al-Najem said winning the prestigious prize for the best e- learning project is international recognition which enhances Kuwait's status and highlights the development it has realized in IT and communications on the world scene, he added.
Al-Najem has innovated a distinguished mechanism for managing e- learning compatible with techniques of virtual learning environment (VLE) that helps students take part in interactions via the Internet during his lectures.
Students can participate in this process through using desktop computers, tablets or smartphones. The mechanism also helps students get a visual recording of lectures that includes materials reviewed or written on board to be retrieved later. Al-Najem is the Founder and the CEO of the Information Age Consulting, Kuwait.
He received the award from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Secretary General Houlin Zhao on the sidelines of the WSIS forum organized by the ITU in collaboration with the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the UN Development Program (UNDP).
