KUWAIT, May 29 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) and the UNICEF signed two agreements worth USD six millions to provide education for Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Jordan.
The agreements are part of Kuwait's pledge to aid Syrian refugees with USD 300 millions during the London's donors conference for Syria in 2016, said KFAS Director General Adnan Shihab-Eldin in a press statement Monday.
The pledge was made by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, KFAS' Chairman of the Board, said the official.
KFAS' contribution to the two agreements is USD 50 millions, he added.
Meanwhile, Shihab-Eldin noted that the first agreement, signed in Dubai last March, involves providing USD three million for education and profession training for about 4,500 Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
The second was signed on May 17 and involves USD three millions for about 4,230 Syrians in Jordan, he said. (end) zak.ag
