Indian civilian, militant killed in Kashmir

NEW DELHI, May 28 (KUNA) -- Indian defence authorities said on Sunday that Pakistan Army shot dead a civilian and injured another in Keran sector of Kupwara district near Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir as Indian Army killed an intruder while foiling an attempt to infiltrate into Indian territories in Poonch area of the disputed state.
Asian News International quoted a statement of Indian Defense Spokesperson Manish Mehta: "One intruder from Pakistan successfully killed in an ambush at about 0230 hours yesterday night on LoC in KG Sector." The agency indicated that the Indian killed in Pakistan army firing was working with Indian army as a porter.
This came amid deteriorating security situation in the border areas as Indian Army confirmed that it killed 10 infiltrators including Hizbul Mujahideen commander Sabzar Bhat in the last two days.
Delhi accuses Islamabad of supporting and funding the armed groups in Kashmir, claims which Islamabad denies and insists Kashmir people are defending their freedom. (end) atk.mt
