KUWAIT, May 2 (KUNA) -- 1977 -- The Diwaniya of "Nabat" Poets, a traditional culturally rich poetry gathering, inaugurated.
1991 -- UN Secretary General established a committee for the demarcation of Kuwaiti-Iraqi borders in an implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 687.
1991 -- The committee represents five members and their meeting started on May 23 of the same year.
2000 -- The National Assembly unanimously approved a bill that allowed non-Kuwaitis to own stocks in registered Kuwaiti shareholding companies.
2000 -- The American Georgetown University presented a certificate of honor to Kuwait for supporting the university's activities.
2005 -- The 20th conference of Arab Youth Hostel Unions elected Kuwait's Nasser Al-Ayyar as chairman.
2006 -- Kuwaiti crude hit new record of USD 65.49 per barrel.
2010 -- Khalifa Bader, a Kuwaiti prominent singer, died at the age of 65.
2010 -- Kuwaiti National team for the disabled participates in the first Fencing tournament hosted in Montreal Canada.
2012 -- Kuwait's permanent envoy to the UN, Ambassador Mansour Al-Otaibi expressed Kuwait and Iraq's wishes that the UN take up the responsibility of implementing the project of maintaining border marks in accordance with Security Council resolution 833 on marking borders between the two countries.
