KUWAIT, April 29 (KUNA) -- Pope Tawadros II, the Pope of Alexandria, has praised Kuwait's religious tolerance and expressed admiration for the warm hospitality accorded to him during his recent visit to the country.
In an interview aired on Saturday by Kuwait Television, the top Coptic cleric expressed admiration for His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the other top Kuwaiti leaders.
Relations at the official and public levels between Egypt and Kuwait are deep and historic, he said, noting the two peoples are bonded with a single destiny.
"This a rare coin these days," he said when alluding to presence of diverse religious and ethnical communities living and working in Kuwait peacefully.
First Coptic Church built outside Egypt was in Kuwait, 1961.
Pope Tawadros II urged all relevant authorities in the Arab world to educate the new generations about values of tolerance.
He made a personal invitation to His Highness the Amir and all other Kuwaiti leaders to visit him at his cathedral in Al-Abbasiyah, Cairo. (end) ays.rk
