IRBIL, April 19 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti Consulate General in Irbil, capital city of Iraqi Kurdistan, on Wednesday offered 1,500 vouchers to the displaced Iraqis in the city of Sulaymaniyah, in cooperation with the Ronahee Foundation for charity.
The goal of such type of aid is to fulfil the food needs of the displaced Iraqis, offering them the chance to shop for themselves, Kuwait's Consulate General in Irbil Dr. Omar Al-Kandari told KUNA.
So far, up to 10,000 vouchers have been distributed on the displaced Iraqis in Irbil and Sulaymaniya, Al-Kandari added.
The senior diplomat noted that his country would carry on with all types of aid as part of a relief plan for the displaced, covering all areas of the Kurdistan Region.
On her part, head of the Ronahee Foundation Jiyan Mirani told KUNA that a voucher is worth USD 50 for each family. This is the second time such vouchers are offered to the displaced in Sulaymaniyah.
Mirani Expressed gratitude to the State of Kuwait for the aid offered to the displaced in all parts of the region, referring to the concept of the vouchers as "distinct." Director of the Joint Crisis Coordination Centre in the Sulaymaniyah Governorate Papa Rasoul Ghafour said that the province hosts up to 60,000 displaced Iraqis, who came from Salah-Eddin, Diyala and Mosul.
