One person killed, seven injured in clashes in Palestinian camp in Lebanon

BEIRUT, April 7 (KUNA)-- One person was killed and seven others injured in clashes between armed groups in the Palestinian Ein Al-Helweh refugee camp, southern Lebanon, on Friday, security sources said.
So-called Belal Bader group clashed with the Palestinian joint security force killing one of its men and injuring six others, in addition to a civilian, the sources told KUNA.
The injured belong to the Palestinian factions of Fatah, Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command, they added.
Colonel Bassam Al-Saad, commander of the Palestinian joint security forces, told reporters that his troops were deployed, as previously planned, in three areas inside the camp.
But they came under fire from Belal Bader group men when the forces entered Foqani neighborhood, which is under the group's control, he said.
Al-Saad underlined that his forces would continue their task and would enforce security and stability in the camp.
Ein Al-Helweh is one of the largest Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. The camp witnessed sporadic clashes which caused casualties. (pickup previous) wsm.bs
