KUWAIT, April 1 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's MP Omar Al-Tabtabaei on Saturday said he was proud of receiving the Arab and Gulf support for membership of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU)'s Forum of Young Parliamentarians, as representative of the Arab group.
Al-Tabtabaei, member of the executive committee of the Kuwaiti Parliamentary Caucus, made the statement to the press after attending a coordination meeting for the Arab group on the sidelines of the 136th IPU Assembly, held in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The membership secures continuous contacts with the IPU's four outstanding committees, Al-Tabtabaei said. It is also important for conveying the concerns of the Arab youth, seeking solutions for their problems as well as promoting their status.
According to Al-Tabtabaei, several youth activities and plans will be discussed during this year's forum.
Unluckily, the Arab youth have not been offered their full rights, and thus they have fallen prey to terror groups, the Kuwaiti MP said. Offering youth "real support" is the way top fight such organizations.
Al-Tabtabaei thanked members of the Kuwaiti Parliamentary Caucus, and all the Arab delegation to the IPU Assembly for backing him.
The Kuwaiti delegation to the 136th IPU Assembly includes head of the Kuwaiti Parliamentary Caucus MP Rakan Al-Nisf, the caucus secretary, Dr. Odah Al-Ruwaiee, the treasurer MP Dr. Walid Al-Tabtabaei, members of the executive committee MPs Omar Al-Tabtabaei and Yousef Al-Fadhalah as well as the National Assembly Secretary General, Allam Al-Kanderi.
