Swine flu kills 160 people in India

NEW DELHI, March 31 (KUNA) -- Indian government on Friday said that swine flu has killed so far 160 people in various parts of the country in the first three months of 2017.
Addressing the Indian Parliament, Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel said swine flu claimed 160 lives and 6,062 other cases were registered in different parts of the country in the last three months.
She added that the state of Maharashtra is most affected as it registered highest number of 63 deaths while the south Indian state of Telangana reported 16 deaths.
The minister added that her ministry has reviewed the preparedness of various states to handle the outbreak of Influenza A H1N1 and a number of measures were taken to mitigate and contain the disease, adding advisory has been issued to all states and the guidelines have been updated. (end) atk.mt
